Evening tea!
Right after mommie sits on the dining table with her evening cup of tea -
Step 1: Start with pulling the table cloth (be prepared to hear a loud noise - its called yelling!)
Step 2: If some how the Tea gets spared, climb the table and shake it viciously! I promise you , it will definitely spill (Now get ready for a slap/spank/another yell , based on her mood!)
Step 3: While she is trying to finish the reset of her tea, insist on getting into her lap and cuddle her (wait for it - shell go "awwwwwwwwwwwww, my baby!!)
Step 4: Thats the clue, pull her hair, earrings, necklace - WHATEVER you can get hold of!
Step 5: RUN for your life!!!!
And thats evening done and dusted!
Swim class
Right after mommy is done packing your swim shorts, snacks for the ride, change of clothes, a book for to read while you are busy swimming...
Step 1: Check the time - are we exactly on time to start ? Good!
Tra la la lala......... Step 2: Say, "Mamma Im hungry" (Wait for it .... "Ahaan!!! We are getting late!")
Step 3: Make a puppy face, but mamma I'm really really hungry (Mom being mom, shell pull a candy, a snack bar or something out and hand it out to you)
Step 4: Act as if you dont want it "I dont want it! I want oats!" (Yes it takes atleast 10-15 mins for the oats to cook, cool and for you to eat!)
Step 5: Sit on the floor start crying, howling, shout at the top of your lungs! (What follows next is not very pretty, be prepared)
Step 6: Somehow she managed to drag you into the car.. now just sit back, relax, enjoy your snacks on the ride. (Request a song change - it might drag things a lil bit, but its worth a shot!)
Step 7: Stuck in traffic? NOW - "Mamma, Lets play i-Spot!" (Just be glad that you cant see her face while in the car - yee haw!")
Step 8: You somehow managed to get to the swim class without any incidents, thats your cue! Fall down on the floor, hold her legs, howl - "I dont want to go to swim class, I DONT WANT THIS TEACHER!"
Step 9: You are in the pool - ENJOY IT DUDE! Swim around, say hi to the girls around - show off your skills. Just have fun !
Step 10: Get out of the pool - you know the drill !!! "Mamma..........I want to go to MCDonalds, Mamma, I want lollipop, Mamma, I dont want to go home!"
Out for a walk
Mum really likes her peaceful walks right after dinner. And there are these rare moments, when I have to accompany her and Boy do I love it or what!!
Step 1: Its important to start early ! Right when she asks you to wear sandals / shoes because they are comfortable to walk - "NO! I want my bike flip flops!" (She WILL budge! Insist till she does..) GREAT! Step 2: Give it a lil breather (heard of the silence before the storm). Let her think that this is actually a good idea.
Step 3: 30 secs up? Now ! "Mamma, whats the sound ?" "I think its some bug Ahaan" "They are CRICKETS, mamma!" (Before she says if you knew it why did you ask me, be prepared with the next question - heard of rapid fire?) "Why do crickets make that sound mamma?" "Just like you snore when you are sleeping, crickets make that noise when they are sleeping" (Ohh.. you are in dangerous territory lady!) "NOOOOOOO! They dont sleep at night! Silly, mamma"
Step 4: Did you get a look from her? Good! Now, "I'm tired! pick me up!!" (Nothing annoys parents more than kids asking them to pick them up while they are out for a walk! Bingo!)
"No Ahaan, we are out for a walk, you have to walk!" "But, Im tired. My flipflops are hurting my feet!" (Did you , did you see that "I told you" look?) Mission accomplished.
Step 5: Walk for 10 more seconds and say, "I wanna go home!"
Step 6: "Mamma, why is it night?" "Because Ahaan, after day, its night!" "Is night TODAY?" "Yes Ahaan, Today has morning, afternoon, evening and night" "Can I go to Arjit's house TODAY?" "But Ahaan its late in the night, we have sleep now. We can go tomorrow" "NO, I want to go TODAY!"
Step 7: Stop right in middle of the road and wait till she gives you an explanation as to why you cannot visit a friend at night! I have asked her this question several times and none of her answers have appealed me so far ! Dont give up my friend!
Step 8: Reach (get dragged) home and go running to dad "Nanna, why didnt you come for a walk?" (Lil does he know that he was actually spared!")

Sleep time
Mom/Dad: Ahaan, Lets go. Its time to sleep
Ok now, this is NOT a rare sight. It happens every night...
Me: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, I want two more minutes
Mom/Dad: Ok, 2 mins and then we are going into your room.
Me: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, I want to sleep in your room!
Mom/Dad: Ahaan, you HAVE to sleep in your room.
Me: I DONT want to. Pleeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaase, can I sleep in your room (already half way into their room!)
Now based on their mood, level of tiredness and my level of cuteness, I (very rarely) get to sleep in their room. But on most days it is as follows
Mom/Dad: NO, Ahaan. Big boys sleep in their room! Lets go.
Me: But I want two more minutes (my first dialogue was more than 5 mins ago)
Mom/Dad: Ok, two mins and we are going into your room (haha, always works!)
5 mins up and they give me the look. Lets go!
ME: Do I need to brush my teeth?
Mom (lets assume its mom today, if its Dad, the routine is same, just the names are different): Yes Ahaan, we brush our teeth every night before we sleep
Me: Why? (Still in the living room!"
Mom : Because if you dont brush your teeth, you will be boo-boo in your teeth and you will have to go to the doctor
Me: But I like going to the doctor. (On my way to MY room!)
Mom: AHAAAN !!!!
ME: Ok (sad face) and walk into the bathroom
ME: Can I have the yellow angry bird brush?
Mom: Ok
Me: Can I have the timer?
Mom: Ok
Me: While mom is busy brushing my teeth, with all the foam in my mouth "Can I go to Arjit's house, tomorrow?"
Mom: YES AHAAN
Me: Am I done?
Mom: Yes, lets go and sleep
Me: I want to sleep with Nanna (dad)! (Just buying yourself some more time!)
Mom: AHAAN !!
Me: But I want Nanna .. waaaaaaaaaaa
Suddenly I'm transported to my bed with Mamma.. huh ! no problem, Challenge accepted!
Me: Can I have a toy in my bed?
Mom: No
Me: Why?
Mom: Because it will hurt you
Me: No, it wont. I want the spiderman toy (Thats the one I couldnt find for atleast a week, So mom has to spend atleast 5-7 mins sifting through ALL My toys to find it!) Sing a song, jump on the trampoline, ruin the bed spread, throw the pillows on the floor!
Mom: Ahaan, I cant find it. Can I get you another toy?
Me: NOOOOOOOOOOO, i want spiderman!
Remembers, always use MOMs to find your lost toys. Dad's are not so useful!
Me: With the spiderman next to me, good night mamma.
Mom: Good night love.
Me: I love you mamma (get ready for a squeeeeeezeee)
Mom: I love you too baby (bigggggggggg hug)
Mom loves talking to me once the light is off and we are about to sleep
Mom: Why do you trouble mamma, nanna so much Ahaan?
Me: No, I dont! (Never plead guilty!)
Mom: But you cry ALL the time!
Me: I'll never cry AGAIN Mamma - and Hug her tight !
And thats how a day is done peeps :)
